8pm at Amphora, 1a Devonshire Road, Cambridge, CB1 2BH.

The grapevine originated in the Caucasus Mountain region, making Georgia (along with Armenia) one of the oldest winemaking regions in the world. Much of its wines are made in Qvevri, huge, pointy clay vessels, buried in the ground. White grapes are frequently fermented with their skins, making “orange” wines, which are so fashionable now, but have been made this way for over 5 millennia in Georgia. Expect aromas and flavours of oolong tea and autumn leaves, along with tannins on the palate.

All our tastings feature a minimum of 6 wines, which are accompanied by appropriately matched cheeses by Culinaris. Please note that the food is designed as an accompaniment to the wine, which is the main focus of the event!
